Day 1 - The Path of Faith Begins!
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NIV)
Faith is a big deal. And as this verse makes clear, faith is an absolute necessity if we are going to please God. If you look at this verse closely, faith assumes that we “come to Him.” What does it mean to come to God? It means that we trust Him and seek His direction in our lives. God (our Heavenly Father) is pleased when we choose to trust Him above anything and anyone else, just like any earthly father is pleased when his son or daughter comes to him and trusts him.
Today, we begin pursuing the path of faith–together. Over the next 40 days, will you come to Him? Will you commit to trust Him over the next 40 days? Will you trust Him to change you? To teach you? To lead you? To provide for you? If so, get ready for God to work in your life over the next 40 days!
As we kick-off this journey together, I invite you to take that first step of faith today and pray these words:
PRAYER: “Heavenly Father, I don’ t know everything that is going to happen today or over the next 40 days. But I’m coming to You in faith. As I read these daily readings, and as we study the phases of faith on Sunday mornings as a church, I’m trusting You to grow my faith in ways I never imagined. I commit to living this day for You. In Jesus’ trustworthy name, Amen.”
POINT TO PONDER: God is pleased when we choose to trust Him above anything and anyone else.
