Day 14 - Faith Is Trust

Posted by Matt Arnett

8 You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him, you trust him; and even now you are happy with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9 Your reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.  (1 Peter 1:8-9, NLT)

TRUST:  “A confident reliance on the integrity and honesty of another; faith.”

Faith is trust.  For some people, I think it’s hard to figure out what it means to have complete “faith” in Jesus.  Is it just believing he is real?  It’s so easy to trust in things we can see.  It’s harder to trust in things we can’t.  Having strong faith is having complete and total trust in the Lord and his plan for your life.  Having complete faith is trusting that the Bible is the Word of God and was written to give us direction.  Having faith is trusting in the Lord when you don’t understand life, when you are not sure how you are going to handle a bad situation or decision.  Having faith is trusting in him even when it just doesn’t make sense.  Satan is always trying to convince us in any way he can that we shouldn’t follow.   We must trust in the Lord at all times and he will show you the way.

Yesterday morning, I got a call from one of my friends, Jeremiah.  He owns a cabinet business.  They make and install residential style custom cabinets.  He told me his shop burned up last night.  I bet right now it’s really hard for Jeremiah to have faith that this accident (for some reason) was part of the plan the Lord has for his life.  I imagine these questions have crossed his mind:  Why did this happen? Why us?  Why this? Why that?  These are the type of situations where it’s hard to have faith, but these are the type of situations where it’s important to have it.

PRAYER:  “Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to trust in you, and all you have planned for our life.  Let our faith be strongest when we are the weakest.  Let us look to you for guidance always.  Thank you for all your many blessings.  In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.”

POINT TO PONDER:  Is there someone you know that is going through a tough time right now?  Maybe God is telling you to lend a hand?  You should listen!

Great post Matt. Its like Michael said during the sermon today, “Faith is risk, and risk is faith”. It is the hardest thing to do at times, to trust the path that God is leading you down. I have always been a firm believer that God shuts one door, only to open another.
