Day 20 - Beyond Anything You Could Imagine
ISAIAH 55:8-9 (NLT)
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
As we grow up, we’re taught to have goals and to have plans for the future. This is important and will help us to stay focused. However, it is vitally important that we constantly have faith and seek God’s leading and guidance in our plans for the future so that our plans and goals line up with what He desires for us. Often I’ve learned that, as Isaiah 55:8 says, His plans are “far beyond” what we could have imagined.
As I have gotten older, God has taught me that He may direct our paths in a way that seems to initially lead us to make a decision in one area of our life, such as our family, our career, or our finances, only to learn that He was leading us in that direction so that He could later reveal more details of His plan and show us His ultimate goal. In my own life, I’ve learned that God may lead you to go through a pre-med program so that he can later use you in the pharmaceutical industry. He may give you the desire to have a family because He desires for you to adopt a specific child. He may lead you to live in a certain area because He wants to use the people in that community to encourage you and for you to encourage them.
We must have faith and follow God’s leading, even when it does not seem to make sense. It is imperative that we continually seek God’s will and His plans so that we continue to move down that perfect path that he has set for us while we are on earth. In Jeremiah 29:11, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.” God knows “the plans” He has for us and promises to give us “hope and a future.” If we stay focused on Him through reading His word, praying, and fellowship with other believers, He can reveal His good and perfect will for each of our lives.
PRAYER: “God, I pray that you will help me to stay focused on you and what you desire for my life. Help me to understand that you have your reasons for causing certain things to happen in my life so that I will ultimately end up in the center of your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
POINT TO PONDER: God’s plans for our lives are far beyond what we can imagine.

I have this verse from Jeremiah posted in my office. A few months ago I was having a hard time with an employee. I started praying for God to change this situation. It took several months, but his problem was resolved greatly. During this time I had faith that God would slove this problem that was so small to Him but greatly affected my work environment. I new it was in His plan to place me in this new position, to allow growth with change, and it was such a challenge with the rejection I saw in this staff member. Months later, things changed. What a blessing it has been for the challenge and to see the resolution!
