Day 39 - God Is In Control
Psalm 47:8–God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.
As we near the end of the 40 days of faith campaign, I’d like to share a few points that I have taken from this study. This study has meant so much to me, and I have learned great things from each and every post.
There have been days throughout this study that I have had minor setbacks—work, issues at daycare, etc. If it had not been for these devotionals and studies on faith, I would have struggled. I have learned to stay calm and have a peace about things when something doesn’t work the way I want it to. I have learned to be patient and wait to see what God will do with a situation. The greatest thing I have learned is that I have no control over what happens in my life, but I have great comfort in knowing that GOD IS IN CONTROL.
A couple of days ago, we recognized the anniversary of a devastating day in our country—September 11. The words to the song below really helped me at that time, and it still comforts me through everyday situations:
This is no time for fear
This is a time for faith and determination
Don’t lose the vision here
Carried away by emotion
Hold on to all that you hide in your heart
There is one thing that has always been true
It holds the world together
God is in control
We believe that His children will not be forsaken
God is in control
We will choose to remember and never be shaken
There is no power above or beside Him, we know
God is in control, oh God is in control
History marches on
There is a bottom line drawn across the ages
Culture can make its plan
Oh, but the line never changes
No matter how the deception may fly
There is one thing that has always been true
It will be true forever
He has never let you down
Why start to worry now?
He is still the Lord of all we see
And He is still the loving Father
Watching over you and me
PRAYER: Lord, please help us to remember that you are always in control. This helps us to have a peace about things when we have doubt. Help us to keep a strong faith in you, and by doing so, handing over control of our lives to you. Thank you so much for showing us your word through this study. We pray that we will continue to focus on strengthening our faith when this study ends. In your most holy name we pray, Amen.
POINT TO PONDER: Have faith in God because He is and always will be in total control.
